Caseline Jenkins is an Awendaw native who grew up loving fashion and design. A self-taught artist, she pulled out a sewing machine and made her first dress at a friend’s pleading. From the simple design of yellow bridesmaid dresses came the inspiration to make custom beaded wedding gowns and accessories. She soon opened a bridal store in downtown Charleston, where her clients could let their imagination run wild with grandiose, one-of-a-kind creations.

Jenkins’ sewing machine went silent for several years after she closed her store, but it sprung to life once more when she channeled her sketching and design skills into the art of doll making. Jenkins uses high-end fabrics and even creates stunning jewelry and hats for her dolls. “Making the body, coloring the many complexions and attaching the hair is by far the most difficult and time-consuming part. The clothing designs come easily to me. It’s what I’ve done most of my life,” said Jenkins.

Handmade Kissy J pedestal dolls are perfect for the doll enthusiast or anyone seeking a gorgeous collectable to add to their décor. To order your Kissy J doll, email kissyj@knology.net.
